seiner Band schickte. Daraufhin entstand dann ein Kontakt der zu diesem Interview führte, hoffentlich ist hier jemand bei den das interessiert...

 

VF – Die Basics: Wer bist du? In welcher Band spielst du? Was für eine Art von Musik macht ihr? Wie lange spielt ihr schon zusammen?

Vasko – Hallo an die Leser der VERBOTENEN FRÜCHTE. Mein Name ist Vasko, ich bin der Sänger von FxPxOx. Neben mir sind noch Pero (drums), Dimo (bass) und Bojan (guitar) in der Band. Wir spielen 80s-style, unsere Einflüsse kommen von Uniform Choice und Layer bis zu den Dead Kennedys und Black Flag. Ich muss hier auch noch erwähnen dass wir aus der Anarcho-DIY-Szene hier stammen. Wir spielen jetzt seit ungefähr einem Jahr zusammen, in dieser Zeit haben wir zwei Demos auf den Markt gebracht, wir sind auf zwei Compilations gewesen und bald erscheint ein Split-Tape mit der amerikanischen Trash-Band MELLEE.

 

VF – Wie läuft das bei euch alles ab?

Vasko – Im Moment läuft hier alles prima. Wir spielen relativ häufig für mazedonische Umstände, und so werden es immer mehr Leute die uns unterstützen. Ohne die Band wäre mein Leben um einiges langweiliger.

 

VF – Ihr seid eine straight edge-Band?

Vasko – Ja, bevor ich straight edge wurde hatte ich einige Probleme mit überhöhtem Alkohol-Konsum, Marijuana, Pillen und anderen Drogen. Ich denke es ist so, dass ich einfach die Schnauze voll hatte von dieser Art zu leben. Ich wollte die Welt sauber erleben. Und ich denke dass meine Überlegung richtig war, straight edge ist besser als dass was eine Droge dir bieten kann. Glaub mir. Ich bin auch keiner dieser möchter-gern-straight-edger die Fleisch essen und Coca-Cola trinken, ich denke, dass straight edge eine politische Sache ist. Man sollte sich politisch engagieren, Entwicklungen genau beobachten und versuchen mit den anderen Lebewesen in Einklang zu leben und sie nicht auszubeuten.

 

VF – Erzähl mal bitte ein bisschen was über die Szene in Mazedonien. Gibt es dort noch ethnische Probleme nach den Balkankriegen? Bist du persönlich mit diesen Problemen konfrontiert worden? Wie sieht es aus mit Shows? Gibt es viele Möglichkeiten für euch dort zu spielen?

Vasko – Da Mazedonien nur knapp über 2 Millionen Einwohner hat ist die Szene hier zahlenmäßig natürlich auch recht klein. Die meisten Aktivitäten beschränken sich hier auf die Gegend von und um Skopje, in den kleineren Städten wie Prilep und Kumanovo gibt es auch Leute die viel für die Szene tun, aber es sind dort halt auch sehr wenig Leute die sie unterstützen können. Alles in allem ist die Situation dort nicht so schlecht, es gibt einige Bands und Fanzines, aber dieses Land ist arm und so gibt es immer wieder finanzielle Probleme dabei was auf die Beine zu stellen. Die wenigsten Leute bleiben in der Szene wenn sie ihre Ausbildung abgeschlossen haben weil sie sich zu sehr auf ihr Leben konzentrieren müssen, es bleibt kaum Zeit für die Aktivitäten in der Szene. Was die Bands betrifft, jede Band die gerne mal die Atmosphäre hier spüren will kann sich gerne mit mir in Kontakt setzen. Kommt nach Mazedonien, die Leute in Skopje warten auf euch, hahaha...

Zu den ethnischen Konflikten hier, seit dem ersten März waren wir hier auch betroffen von der Sache, wir konnten die Ausläufer des Krieges hier deutlich spüren. Nach einem Jahr bekamen wir dann die Kämpfe zwischen den Albanern, den Mazedoniern und der Polizei hier zu spüren. Mittlerweile ist es wieder friedlich, aber die Kämpfe waren bis auf 15km an mein Haus rangekommen was mir schon Sorge bereitet hat. Jetzt geht es wieder, auch wenn die Spannungen zwischen den Albanern und den Mazedoniern nach wie vor bestehen. Die Szene hier betreibt seit Anfang der Kämpfe eine Friedensbewegung, aber soweit es mich betrifft ist es mir egal ob hier einer Albaner oder Mazedonier ist.

 

VF – Erzähl mal noch was über straigt edge / HC Szene in Mazedonien...

Vasko – Ich weiß nicht ob man hier wirklich von einer Szene sprechen kann, außer FxPxOx gibt es hier nur zwei andere sxe-Bands (DFL & Sloboda ili smrt). Mit den Leuten die hier Shows organisieren bringen wir auch Tapes auf den Markt. Außer den sxe-Crews gibt es hier noch einige Bands die Crust / Punk / New School spielen

INTERVIEW

1.The basics:who are you?what band are you in?what kind of music?who is in the band?how long do you play together?

-Hello to all the readers of”V.F.”.I’m Vasko the singer of FxPxOx.Beside me in the band are:Pero(drums),Dimo(bass),and Bojan(guitar).We play in the spirit of the 80’s,and the influences are all the way from Uniform Choice and Layer ,to Dead Kennedys and Black Flag.I also have to mention that we come from the anarcho DIYscene.Anyway,we play for almost a year,and for that time we managed to release two demos,we appeared on two compilation,and soon the split tape with the American trashers MELLEE,will be out.

2.How did you got things going?

-Well,for now,we’re doing great.We play pretty often for Macedonian circumstances,and more and more people support what we’re doing.Anyway,without FxPxOx my life would have been far worst,than it is now!!!

3.Why straight edge?

-Before I become sXe I went far way in consuming alchohol,marijuana, pills and other drugs.I think I had enough of that life.Simply I wanted to see the world sober.And…I think my choice is right,sxe is better than any other drug.Trust me!!Anyway,I have to point out that I’m not one of those apolitical straighters,who eat meat,drink 

Coca-Cola…..so I think that the straighters should be politically conscious,environmentally responsible,and compassionate with the living species on earth.

4.Tell us something about the scene in Macedonia,is it possible to play shows there?Are there any problems because of the ethnic conflicts on the Balcan?Have you ever been confronted with these conflicts?(I think your answer will cause a few more questions*g*)

-Regarding the fact that Macedonia has only 2million citizens,it’s quite normal that the scene will be small.Most of the happenings and activities are in Skopje,while in the smaller towns like Prilep,Kumanovo….there are pepple who know what they are doing,but they have a litlle support from their communities.All in all,the situation ain’t that bad.There’re few bands and zines,that know what they are doing,but we live in a poor country,so the financies are our biggest problem.Rarely somebody stays in the scene after finishing his/her education.Regarding the gigs…all the bands that want to feel the real enthusiastic atmosphere ,can write to my address,or to the address of my friend Stef (praz@freemail.org.mk).

You just come to Macedonia!!The people in Skopje and Prilep are waiting for you,ha,ha.ha,ha……About the ethnic conflicts on the Balcan..unfortunately , from the 1^st March ,we had the opportunity to feel the breath of war.Than after a year,we became witnesses of the battles between ,the Albanian terrorists,and the Macedinian soldiers and policeman.At one time the fightings came as near as 15km from my house.Now is far more peaceful but the tension between Albanians and Macedonians still exists.The “HC”community from the very beginning of the war,runs a peace campaign!!As far as I’m concerned… who gives a fuck about Macedonian cops and Albanian terrorists!!!

5.Tell us something about the sxe/hc-scene in Macedonia,are there a lot of shows?Are there many labels?Is it just a few people,or is sxe/hc a quite large scene down there?

-I don’t know if I can speak about a sXe scene here,because, except FxPxOx only two band exist(DFL & Sloboda ili smrt).About the labels….together with the friend with who we organize gigs,we also release tapes.Except the sXe crew,there are other bands too,that play punk/crust/new school….So if you are interested ,write me to send you some ads.
